Well V1.4 has now been sent to Apple for approval and it includes quite a few new features.
The main one being a centralised Graphical interface.

The manufacturers count has also gone upto 40!
We have fixtures and consoles from people like:
•Avolites
•Color Kintics - There will be more coming soon!
•ETC
•GrandMA
•Martin
•Pulsar
•Robe and many many more!

Also in Version 1.4 is the ability to update the “Library” in app. This new feature allows me to be able to add and amend any information into the Library. For example, You contact me telling me there’s a link down, or a piece of information is incorrect, i can now update it, and publish it so you can be upto date with everything! It will also allow me to add new fixtures and manufacturers more often, rather than every few months as is the current case.

There’s also a new Lamp Guide section giving you information on all types of lamps which you use day to day, and some which may be a little more obscure. This gives you the following information:
•Wattage
•Voltage (If not 240V)
•Cap/Base
•Colour Temperature (°K)
•Average Life Hours
•If there is an alternative available
•Beam/Lamp Length

There are of coarse more minor tweaks and fixes here and there, and i hope you all like the update. Hopefully we’ll see it this side of 2010!

There are lots more plans for Lighting Handbook, including....... Well you’ll have to wait and see!

Again, it’s been a very long time since i last got round to updating this blog, but i am hoping to update it on a more regular basis.

So whats new?
Well i’ve now implemented a much requested feature, you can now load a manual into iBooks, or any of your other favourite PDF viewing apps. The reason behind this is simple, iBooks can view a PDF manual a lot better than Lighting Handbook can, and until i learn some incredibly complex code, this will be the best method.
It means you can now search through a manual, Skip directly to a given page and even add Bookmarks within manuals!!

I’m also adding a Lamp reference guide, This will give you access to almost 100 different lamps, what Base they use, Lumen output, Colour temperature, what alternative is available etc etc.

I’m also trying my hardest to add a search function to allow for app wide searching, allowing you to start Lighting handbook and just do a search for “Mac 2000” and have the detailed page come back to you, i’m still not sure this is quite possible, but i’m not giving up with it and will continue to work on it.

There will of coarse be more manufacturers and products included, and i’m hoping this will get released on the 1st anniversary of Lighting handbooks release.
2nd December!
I’ll post more info ASAP!

Thank you for your continued support, and as a reminder i welcome all feedback.
Again it’s been a little while since i updated this blog, However since i last updated this blog i’ve been hard at work on a couple of other projects that are now in the app store (for other companies) and now they’re in i can concentrate my free time back to Lighting handbook and adding more features and manufacturers.

The first feature is the inclusion of Lighting Links.
These are links to website that i feel may be popular with the users of Lighting Handbook. They include sites such as Blue Room forum, Light Network, This Blog, Onstage Lighting. And more! I also have links to Bill Williams website which has fantastic lighting tutorials. As always these will grow and grow with user feedback. Let me know if there’s a web-site i should include!

As for manufacturers, i’ve added a big one for the users across the pond in the states, Lighting Handbook now included Chauvet Lighting (Pro only at the moment).
We also have ETC Lighting consoles, Selecon conventionals, and more!!

Another handy feature in Version 1.3 is the ability to change the power consumption from Watts to amps!

Also a new big improvement is the ability to open a saved manual from the information page of that product, Whenever you see:

That means you have previously saved the manual and it will load the saved manual instead of downloading it again from the internet.

I’ve also redesigned the detail page again, hopefully this will make it even easier to read the information.

And finally i’ve added the ability to e-mail manuals direct from inside Lighting Handbook, Just load the manual and click on the new options button, you can then save or e-mail the manual.
Well it’s been a little while since i updated this blog, I’m not sure how many people actually read this but hopefully someone is.

So whats happening with Lighting Handbook and where is V1.2....

Well i’m working on it, however as this is somewhat a sideline to my main income the lighting does come first, But i am working away at all hours of the day to try and get V1.2 pushed out ASAP.
I’ve managed to include things like Zarges Info, 3 Phase colour information for a multitude of countries (hopefully you’ll find yours in there)

I’ve also updated a few broken links along the way.
As for new manufacturers, i’ve had lots of feedback asking for various products, i’m trying to implement them as soon as possible but i feel that V1.3 may be the version that contains the most increase in products.

I’ve also been approached by a large lighting company in London to design and build they’re app, it will contain most of the database i’ve built to date and include a lot more information.
However for the moment that is all i can say, But look out around ABTT and PLASA time for some announcements from the shows.

Is in review.

Cross your fingers for a quick review, and hopefully you’ll start see’ing 1.1 in about a week.

And yes, Saving of manuals is included.

Hopefully for v1.2 we’ll see more dimmers, more lighting fixtures and the introduction of consoles, as well as things like shortcuts for items, and a progress bar for when your loading manuals.

Stay Tuned for more info.
